While you're all waiting for some news about my book. I thought I'd post a review of a new favorite novel of mine. The author, Andrew Klavan, has had a huge impact on how I write.

                                               NIGHTMARE CITY
                                                by Andrew Klavan

Nightmare City is an intense, terrifying, journey into a young man's soul. The pacing was strong but the writing style really surprised me. Up till this point the author has used the first person point of view in all of his Young Adult novels. But in this novel the author branches out into the third person narrative. Surprisingly enough the story doesn't lag behind which usually happens when an author changes narratives. The opposite is actually true here. The books pace is probably the fastest of all Andrew Klavan's Young Adult novels so far.

Here is the synopsis:

"Tom Harding only wants the truth. But the truth is becoming more dangerous with every passing minute.
As a reporter for his high school newspaper, Tom Harding was tracking the best story of his life—when, suddenly, his life turned very, very weird. He woke up one morning to find his house empty . . . his street empty . . . his whole town empty . . . empty except for an eerie, creeping fog—and whatever creatures were slowly moving toward him through the fog.
Now Tom’s once-ordinary world has become something out of a horror movie. How did it happen? Is it real? Is he dreaming? Has there been a zombie apocalypse? Has he died and gone to hell?
Tom is a good reporter—he knows how to look for answers—but no one has ever covered a story like this before. With the fog closing in and the hungry creatures of the fog surrounding him, he has only a few hours to find out how he lost the world he knew. In this bizarre universe nothing is what it seems and everything—including Tom’s life—hangs in the balance."

The intensity of the story starts by the very first chapter and doesn't let up much for the rest of the book. But that is not what made me love this book. It was the story and theme.
The insecurity of the main character is realistic and relatable. The story weaves a strong narrative of perseverance, character, and the fact that you are never alone. You are never alone, even when you're stranded in a Nightmare City.

I give this 10 stars out of 10!
